What the Bible says about the most important decision you will ever make in your life!

What happens when I die? Where will I spend eternity? The key question is this - “If I were to die today, would I spend eternity in Heaven with God?” Your relationship to Jesus Christ is central to answering to that question. Please read about God's free gift, "And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish..." John 10:28.

The Bible tells us in I John 5:13, “These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life...” The simple truth is God wants you to know where you will spend eternity. God wants us to know that we have eternal life, but we must do it God's way.

1. Realize and Acknowledge: "For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God." Romans 3:23

Yes everyone, including you, has come short of Heaven because of sin.

The Bible describes sin as the breaking, or transgression, of God's perfect law or holy standard of righteousness.

"Whosoever committeth sin transgresseth also the law: for sin is the transgression of the law." 1 John 3:4

Some consider sin to be the breaking of the Ten Commandments, while others suppose sin to be murder or adultery. Sin encompasses actions (e.g. stealing, lying, cursing, gossip, acts of violence) as well as thoughts (e.g. jealousy, lust, pride, disliking another person).

2. Realize and Acknowledge: " ...the wages of sin is death," Romans 6:23.

Because of our sin, we are under the penalty for sin. God hates sin. He says that our sins separate us from Him.

"Behold, the LORD'S hand is not shortened, that it cannot save; neither his ear heavy, that it cannot hear: But your iniquities have separated between you and your God, and your sins have hid his face from you, that he will not hear." Isaiah 59:1-2

All men die physically, but all men do not take part in the second death. You can be born again through Jesus Christ and be saved from the penalty of sin which is an eternal separation from God in Hell, a place of "fire and brimstone, which is the second death," Revelation 21:8.

You will live eternally with God or eternally separated from God. Either way, you are an eternal being. But where will you spend your eternity? God's Word makes it very clear that His desire is for you to spend eternity with Him.

3. Realize and Acknowledge: "Christ died for our sins," I Corinthians 15:3.

Jesus Christ paid the entire price on the cross for your sin; His blood covers it all. God set a high price on sin, which was a perfect sacrifice, and then God himself gave His own son to die for us. John 3:16. God's love is so great that He made a way for our sins to be forgiven.

"For the life of the flesh is in the blood: and I have given it to you upon the altar to make an atonement for your souls: for it is the blood that maketh an atonement for the soul."  Leviticus 17:11

"But God commendeth his love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us" Romans 5:8.

4. Realize and Acknowledge: "the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord," Romans 6:23.

God offers Heaven as a gift. This gift is yours by believing in His Son to forgive your sins, and receiving Him as your Saviour and Lord.  But like all gifts, it is not yours until you receive it. You must believe that Jesus Christ wants to be your Saviour! Jesus Christ came to earth as God in the flesh, lived a perfect life, and then voluntarily died on a cross because He loves you. On that cross, He literally paid for all of your sins. He took your blame! He punished Himself for your wrong-doings. What a great gift!

"Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved." Acts 4:12

"Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me." John 14:6

5. Realize and Acknowledge:  "Whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved, " Romans 10:13.

Whosoever means you. If you believe in simple faith and will trust in the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ for your soul's salvation, you can be confident that you are going to Heaven. Nothing else will do...…not church membership, not baptism, not good works, not confirmation. None of this will help you get to heaven.

6. Confess and Ask:

Why not pray this prayer… "Lord Jesus, I am a sinner. Forgive me for my sin and save me from hell. I believe you died and rose again to pay the penalty for my sin.  Thank you for saving me. Amen."  By admitting and agreeing with God that you're a sinner, confessing and truly being sorry, and by faith believing that Jesus Christ's death and resurrection cleanses your sin, God promises you eternal salvation!

That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.” Romans 10:9-10

Finally

Once you have sincerely done these steps you are a child of God...
"For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God." Romans 8:14

...and on your way to Heaven.
"And the building of the wall of it was of jasper: and the city was pure gold, like unto clear glass."  Revelation 21:18

If you have prayed that you're a sinner and you are sorry for your sin, and that Jesus Christ died and rose again to forgive your sin, you have received Jesus Christ as your personal saviour. The next step is to grow and mature in your spiritual walk with Jesus.

You can accept God's gift right now! God promises that if you will do this, He will save you and give you eternal life!
