Click on the MYTH below and it will take you to the FACT.
MYTH: Jesus never called himself the Christ.
FACT: Jesus did in fact refer to Himself as the Messiah or Christ:
•"The woman saith unto him, I know that Messias cometh, which is called Christ: when he is come, he will tell us all things. Jesus saith unto her, I that speak unto thee am he." John 4:25-26
MYTH: No one ever called Jesus the Christ.
FACT: Many people in the Bible called Jesus the Christ:
•"For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord." Luke 2:11
•"She saith unto him, Yea, Lord: I believe that thou art the Christ, the Son of God, which should come into the world." John 11:27
•"Therefore let all the house of Israel know assuredly, that God hath made that same Jesus, whom ye have crucified, both Lord and Christ." Acts 2:36
•"But these are written, that ye might believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God; and that believing ye might have life through his name." John 20:31
MYTH: The Bible teaches that the Earth is flat.
FACT: The Bible specifically indicates that the earth has sphericity:
•"It is he that sitteth upon the circle of the earth, and the inhabitants thereof are as grasshoppers; that stretcheth out the heavens as a curtain, and spreadeth them out as a tent to dwell in:" Isaiah 40:22
The word used for circle is the Hebrew word Khug, which indicates sphericity.
MYTH: The Bible was written by men and is therefore not the Word of God.
FACT: The Bible was written by God, and men were used to put the word down on paper:
•"All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:" II Timothy 3:16
•"Knowing this first, that no prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation. For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost." II Peter 1:20-21
•"For this cause also thank we God without ceasing, because, when ye received the word of God which ye heard of us, ye received it not as the word of men, but as it is in truth, the word of God, which effectually worketh also in you that believe." I Thessalonians 2:13
•"Much every way: chiefly, because that unto them were committed the oracles of God." Romans 3:2
•"Every word of God is pure: he is a shield unto them that put their trust in him." Proverbs 30:5
•"For whatsoever things were written aforetime were written for our learning, that we through patience and comfort of the scriptures might have hope." Romans 15:4
•"Which things also we speak, not in the words which man's wisdom teacheth, but which the Holy Ghost teacheth; comparing spiritual things with spiritual." I Corinthians 2:13
•"Jesus answered and said unto them, Ye do err, not knowing the scriptures, nor the power of God." Matthew 22:29
MYTH: Jesus was not God, only the Son of God.
FACT: Jesus was fully God, and many times accepted the name God and worship:
•"And Thomas answered and said unto him, My Lord and my God. Jesus saith unto him, Thomas, because thou hast seen me, thou hast believed: blessed are they that have not seen, and yet have believed." John 20:28-29
•"And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifest in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, seen of angels, preached unto the Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up into glory." I Timothy 3:16
•"In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. The same was in the beginning with God. All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made." John 1:1-3
•"He was in the world, and the world was made by him, and the world knew him not." John 1:10
•"And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth." John 1:14
•"But unto the Son he saith, Thy throne, O God, is for ever and ever: a sceptre of righteous-ness is the sceptre of thy kingdom." Hebrews 1:8
MYTH: Jesus Christ was not begotten of God, but was a son of God, just like any prophet or man.
FACT: Jesus Christ was not just a prophet. He was the begotten Son of God. He was also God in the flesh, which speaks of the mystery of the Godhead:
•"I will declare the decree: the LORD hath said unto me, Thou art my Son; this day have I be-gotten thee." Psalms 2:7
•"God hath fulfilled the same unto us their children, in that he hath raised up Jesus again; as it is also written in the second psalm, Thou art my Son, this day have I begotten thee." Acts 13:33
•"And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth." John 1:14
•"No man hath seen God at any time; the only begotten Son, which is in the bosom of the Father, he hath declared him." John 1:18
•"For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life." John 3:16
•"He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God." John 3:18
•"For unto which of the angels said he at any time, Thou art my Son, this day have I begotten thee? And again, I will be to him a Father, and he shall be to me a Son?" Hebrews 1:5
